Shri Matrumandir English Medium Higher Secondary School is managed by "Shri Mahatma Gandhi Charitable Trust", Rajkot. This trust is well known in Rajkot for spreading the light of education in the society since 1965. There are more than 28 educational institutes governed by this trust in Rajkot.
Mahatma Gandhi Charitable Trust, a premier and reputed non-profit making public charitable trust of Rajkot, was established in 1965 by a noted social worker and educationist – Late Shri Labhubhai Trivedi. The trust was founded to cater to educational needs of primary and formative education to the middle class of the society. Working on high principles of Mahatma Gandhi, the Trust with an able and worthy team of self-less, service minded trustees entered higher education with a view to provide quality and affordable education for the masses. Presently, it manages 27 educational institutions with 16,000 students under its fold.

One of the founding fathers of Mahatma Gandhi Charitable Trust and the former Pro Vice Chancellor of Saurashtra University, Rajkot,
was a symbol of social service through education and youth development and a social worker from the core.
An eminent educationist with vision, he dedicated his entire life for the development and management of education. He was the pillar and the main guiding force behind many social, cultural, and educational institutions in Saurashtra. He was the key figure behind the modest beginning of the Mahatma Gandhi Charitable Trust.
The founder trustee dedicated his whole life to the development and proper management of the educational programs of the trust. He was the moving spirit behind the ever-developing activities of the trust and rendered his yeoman services to the trust till his last. He was a social worker, a real educationist with vision – a visionary benefactor who devoted his entire life to education not only in Saurashtra but in Gujarat as well.
Education was his forte. He presided over the destiny of hundreds of students. He was the founder of many social, educational, and cultural institutions in Saurashtra and managed them very efficiently and successfully. He contributed significantly to the development of Gujarat and Saurashtra universities. He was appointed as the Pro-Vice Chancellor of Saurashtra University for two terms. He was a real benefactor, patron, supporter, friend, philosopher, and guide of the academic world.
